About

iain @ gc4 launch

Hello to you, I’m Iain.

Mostly, I direct the GameCity festival in Nottingham, UK and develop a number of other projects around it.
I do this at the Nottingham Trent University, where I also work on the National Videogame Archive and the Centre for Contemporary Play.

Before my life was eaten by a festival, I used to write and talk about videogames and other cultural technologies for lots of different places. Currently, I write and talk about videogames and other cultural technologies for a few select places.

There is no blog to be found here. Despite many attempts at keeping one, I’ve discovered I’m utterly unable to sustain the time commitment to such an endeavour. Also, it would be utterly undignified to share with you most of the truly interesting things that I think would make a good post. That said, upcoming events and things that might be worth remembering will be committed to the notes section, for my benefit as much as yours.

I live in Nottingham with my brilliant wife, splendid son, stupid (and latterly, depressed) dog and several incredibly powerful computers.

Want to get in touch? Great!

iain(insert the at sign right here)gamecity.org is probably best…
